Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has talked over the phone with UN special envoy to the Middle East Nickolay Mladenov and discussed with him different developments related to the Palestinian cause.
According to a statement released by the Hamas Movement on Thursday, Haneyya explained during a lengthy telephone conversation with Mladenov about the pending dangers threatening the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, especially with regard to the Israeli annexation plan.
The Hamas leader emphasized his Movement’s position against the annexation plan and applauded UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres’ remarks in which he voiced his rejection of the plan and condemned it as a "most serious violation of international law.”
Haneyya highlighted the issue of Occupied Jerusalem and the measures and restrictions pursued by Israel to Judaize the holy city and force its natives to leave it.
He also talked about other developments in the Palestinian arena, including the Israeli blockade on Gaza and his Movement’s efforts to heal the national rift in light of the current sensitive situation which the Palestinian people are facing at home and abroad.
The Hamas official also listened to the UN envoy’s views on relevant issues and his talk about the UN efforts in this regard.
