Haneyya congratulates new Tunisian president on election victory

Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya phoned president-elect Qais Sa’eid and congratulated him on his presidential election victory and the success of the Tunisian democratic elections.

A statement released by his office said that Haneyya applauded the Tunisian democratic experience and the stated positions of the president-elect towards the Palestinian cause before and after the election campaign.

“The Movement’s head has conveyed the Palestinian people’s congratulations and greetings to the brotherly Tunisian people on the victory of president Qais Sa’ied in such very important station,” the statement said.

According to the statement, president Sa’ied expressed his appreciation to Haneyya for his phone call, affirming that he would stand by the Palestinian people until they extracted their freedom and established their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
