The Argentine Football Association announced on Wednesday that the warm-up football match with the Israeli occupation will be cancelled, without providing any further details.
The Vice President of the Argentine Football Association Hugo Moyano said the friendly against Israel was "not worth it".
"I think it's a good thing that the match between Argentina and Israel was suspended…The stuff that happens in those places, where they ]Israelis[ kill so many people, as a human being you can't accept that in any way", Mayano added.
The cancellation comes amid widespread international calls to boycott the Israeli occupation, especially on the heels of its carnage perpetrated on May 14 against Palestinian civilians demonstrating at the Great Return March
Jibril Rjoub, the head of Palestinian Football Federation, has said before that the federation will do its best through solidarity campaigns to put pressure on the Argentine Football Association for cancelling the planned match that was supposed to be played at Teddy Kollek Stadium in Jerusalem as a sign of protest against the occupation's oppressive policies.
He also urged the team's striker Lionel Messi not to partake in the Israeli occupation's abuses against the Palestinians by participating in such activities.
The Palestinian people in Gaza have been holding peaceful mass protests at the Gaza border fence for ten weeks, billed as Great Return March, to demand the implementation of the UN 194 Resolution and lifting the 12-year-long blockade the Israeli occupation imposes on the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation forces, in turn, have met the non-violent march with lethal violence, leaving at least 120 fatalities and over 13.500 wounded Palestinians.
