The Israeli occupation's air forces targeted several locations in the Gaza Strip after it claimed dozens of mortar shells hit settlements northern the coastal enclave.

The escalation was triggered last Sunday when Israeli tanks fired into outposts in the Gaza Strip, killing three Palestinians affiliated to resistance factions.

In a joint statement, Al-Qassam and Al-Qudus Brigades said that the Israeli occupation forces initiated this round of violence by murdering three Palestinians, so they fired some projectiles into the occupation's military sites in areas surrounding the Gaza Strip.

While Sunday's strikes came as an Israeli violent response to the Palestinian peaceful mass protests held along the Gaza border fence, Avichay Adraee, the spokesperson of the IOF said, 'The IOF will maintain the security of the Israeli citizens, and is determined to act aganist  terrorism', as an attempt to justify the arbitrary bombardment.

Over the past ten years, the IOF have launched three horrific wars against the coastal enclave it has been beleaguering since 2006, which led to thousands of killings among Palestinians and massive destruction across the strip.

Given that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire and unlivable, analysts are afraid the escalation will plunge the torn-apart Gaza Strip into another destructive war launched on the whim and will of the Israeli occupation.
